HBO Revives ‘Girls’ With Lena Dunham And Original Cast Returning

HBO has ordered a five-episode limited revival of Lena Dunham’s acclaimed comedy series Girls. Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, and Andrew Rannells are all confirmed to return. Notably absent is Adam Driver, whom Dunham described as “verbally aggressive” during filming in her memoir Famesick. Production begins next year, marking 15 years since the show’s premiere. Dunham said the characters “started talking to me in the shower” around her 40th birthday, inspiring the revival’s focus on the milestone of turning 40. Dunham will write, direct, and executive produce alongside Judd Apatow.
