Blazers suffer 4-3 overtime loss on home ice

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers split their home-and-home weekend with a 4-3 overtime loss to the visiting Kelowna Rockets at the Sandman Centre on Saturday (Oct. 3).

Drew Larioza opened the scoreboard 3:09 into the first period for the Rockets with an assist from Madden Daneault.

The Blazers would respond seven minutes later when Teagen Bouchard scored a goal with an assist from Madden Tymchak.

At the 12:52 mark, Brady Ondrus took advantage of the power play with assists from Cooper Moore and Jacob Dumansky to finish off the first frame with a 2-1 lead for the Blazers.

Just 42 seconds into the second period, Eli Barrett tied up the scoreboard with an unassisted goal for the Rockets.

Ten minutes later, Madden Daneault pulled the Rockets into a 3-2 lead with assists from Rowan Guest and 9 Jakub Frolo.

At the 13:21 mark of the second frame, Moore’s shot found the net with an assist from Owen Cooper to tie up the scoreboard once again.

The third period remained scoreless, forcing the game into overtime.

Just 34 seconds into overtime, Jacob Henderson got the game-winning goal for the Rockets with an assist from Madden Daneault.

The Kamloops Blazers will be back on home ice on Wednesday (Oct. 7) when they face off against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
