Nicolas Cage took aim at the Marvel Cinematic Universe during a Fan Expo Dallas appearance, calling it a “well-funded and glorified WWE.” The actor, a self-described comic book fan, said he watches “50-plus, otherwise intelligent, remarkably gifted thespians putting on these ridiculous outfits” and can’t help but see professional wrestling. Cage praised Marvel’s earlier storytelling but urged a return to character-driven narratives. He cited his own Prime Video series Spider-Noir as a better model, describing it as “a detective story” with “a mystery there” rather than constant action. Cage has appeared in several comic adaptations, including two Ghost Rider films and Kick-Ass. He next stars as John Madden in Prime Video’s biopic Madden, directed by David O. Russell, releasing in November. S
