Planned outages in mid-October to temporarily leave thousands without power in the North Thompson

KAMLOOPS — A pair of planned outages later next month will leave thousands of residents in the North Thompson without power for a few hours. 

On Sunday, Oct. 18, BC Hydro says its crews will perform critical maintenance work at its Heffley Creek substation and on the transmission line serving the North Thompson region. 

The first outage will affect approximately 2,178 BC Hydro customers in Heffley Creek and Sun Peaks from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 18. 

The second outage will affect approximately 10,363 BC Hydro customers in Avola, Barriere, Blue River, Clearwater, Little Fort, McBride, Valemount and Vavenby from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 18.
