Hayden Panettiere Was In Rehab Weeks Before Her Death

Hayden Panettiere, who died in August at age 36, had been in a Malibu drug rehabilitation facility just weeks before her passing. Her father, Skip Panettiere, told authorities she had spent “two or three weeks” at the facility and had “struggled with addiction since her early 20s.” A member of the Hickerson family also revealed he had previously administered Narcan to the actress. The coroner confirmed her death was accidental, caused by “toxic effects of fentanyl” and other drugs. Authorities noted her addiction issues escalated following postpartum depression after the 2014 birth of her daughter Kaya. A cross-country investigation into the drug source remains ongoing.
