Volunteer Kamloops to host 13th annual Timeraiser event

KAMLOOPS — Volunteer Kamloops is gearing up to host the 13th annual Timeraiser event, a silent art action where no money changes hands.

Volunteer Kamloops said the event will have participants meeting and matching their skills with non-profit agencies.

Once matches are made, participants can bid on artwork, but with volunteer hours rather than money.

“As a winning bidder, participants have one year to complete their volunteer commitment with any agency present at the Timeraiser event – and then they can take the artwork home,” said a statement from Volunteer Kamloops.

“All attendees are encouraged to try out volunteering and this event is meant to be a relaxed way to learn about the opportunities in Kamloops.”

The evening will also feature live music, food, a cash bar and a gallery of artwork by local artists.

“Artwork is purchased with sponsorship funding – a substantial injection of business into the local artist community,” said Volunteer Kamloops.

“With their help over the past 12 years, Timeraiser has raised over 11,000 volunteer hours and invested over $43,000 into the careers of 90+ emerging and established local artists.”

The organization will honour last year’s volunteer winners and present them with the artwork they have spent the year committing volunteer hours towards taking their artwork home.

“I know this event makes a significant impact on non-profit’s ability to recruit volunteers to their organization and at the same time, nourishes arts and culture in our community,” said Terri Hadwin, Chair of the Timeraiser committee and the former President of Volunteer Kamloops.

“Timeraiser is one of the staple events of Kamloops that lends to sense of belonging.”

The 13th annual Timeraiser event will go ahead on Friday, October 16 at 6:00 p.m.at the Old Courthouse Gallery.

” This special evening of fun and networking will have representatives from 12 different non-profit agencies ready to share their cause,” said Volunteer Kamloops.

“The evening will also showcase the artwork of 20 local artists, live music from The Journeymen and catering provided by Blue Collar Catering.”

Advance tickets are available for $20, or $25 after early bird pricing.
