Kamloops residents turn up in droves for annual Starfish Backpack drive-thru breakfast
KAMLOOPS — It was breakfast for a good cause as hundreds of Kamloops residents made the trip to Cascades Casino Friday (Sept. 18) morning in support of the Starfish Backpack program.
“This year, we’re giving out 330 backpacks every single Friday to elementary school kids that otherwise don’t have enough food at home so it’s an important program to support,” Bernadette Siracky, the Kamloops Food Bank’s executive director and CEO, said.
“It’s an easy way to support it through this drive-thru breakfast and as you can see behind me Kamloops supports us no matter our request.”
