IH warns Kamloops drug users of meth found to contain MDMA

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health (IH) has issued a public alert for a substance being sold on the street in Kamloops as methamphetamine but actually contains MDMA.

In the alert posted Thursday (Sept. 17), IH says the white powdery substance is sold as methamphetamine, crystal meth or ‘side’. Testing has shown it to contain MDMA – commonly known as ‘molly’ or ‘ecstasy’.

The impact of substance on users may then be dramatically different than what they expect. For instance, IH says “people who use meth to stay awake and alert may instead feel drowsy, confused or less aware of what is happening around them.”
