Business owner Eberle to take second shot at council

KAMLOOPS — Bryce Eberle is taking his second shot at Kamloops city council after running back in the 2011 race.

Eberle, who runs a small business in town, said he will be focusing on bringing up the morale in Kamloops and tackling issues around growth, development and public safety.

“I want us to grow as a city. I want to do that in a sustainable manner. I want us to increase the public safety,” Eberle told CFJC News. “Understand what the problems are, work with ASK Wellness, the Mustard Seed, all the great communities that are out there doing something about it. I want to increase our local economy. I want to really exploit being the Tournament Capital of Canada.”

As Build Kamloops projects like the performing arts centre and arena multiplex move ahead, Eberle is focused on the finances of the projects and striking balance. After four years of public dysfunction, Eberle is looking to bring collaboration back to city hall.

“Speaking with people with respect and getting to know everyone around that table. There is no pride in politics. I think when you sit at that table, you are a representative for the City of Kamloops and any personal beliefs or egos need to be checked out,” said Eberle. “I play a lot of community sports and when I’m on the field, sure, I’m aggressive with people. But when you are off that field, you have a beer and make it work. And that’s our job on council is to work with each other and work with community.”

Kamloops voters head to the polls on October 17.
