Investigation underway after human remains found near Salmon Arm

KAMLOOPS — Police are investigating after human remains were discovered in the Yankee Flats area south of Salmon Arm this past Sunday (Sept. 13), but there aren’t many other details available.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP confirmed officers responded to the 2000-block of Yankee Flats Road around 12:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon to reports that suspected human remains were found.

“Two civilian dog trainers were working in a thick, wooded area when the discovery was made,” Cst. Chris Terleski said in an emailed statement.

Terleski said no other information will be released at this time, but he confirmed that the area were the remains were found has been secured.
