Early morning fire damages Brocklehurst duplex

KAMLOOPS — The top unit of a duplex in Brocklehurst is deemed unlivable after an early morning fire. 

Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) responded to the 2600-block of Young Place at around 4:40 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 15). Fourteen firefighters responded and contained the fire to the living room of the upstairs unit. 

“There was smoke damage throughout the building, but the downstairs tenant had no major damage to their unit,” KFR Platoon Chief Ken Hartt told CFJC Today. “There were no injuries.” 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
