John Mulaney is in early talks to lead a reimagining of the classic spy spoof series Get Smart at Warner Bros. Seth Grahame-Smith (The Lego Batman Movie, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) is writing the screenplay. Mel Brooks and Buck Henry created the original NBC series, which debuted in 1965. Don Adams starred as Maxwell Smart in the original run. A 2008 feature adaptation starring Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, and Dwayne Johnson grossed $230 million globally, though a planned sequel never materialized. Mulaney, known for his Netflix specials and his writing tenure on Saturday Night Live, also has a recurring role on The Bear.
