Western Canada Theatre taps former employee as new executive director

KAMLOOPS — A familiar face to Western Canada Theatre (WCT) will become its new executive director. 

The WCT board of directors announced Thursday (Sept. 3) Chelsea Isenor was selected to take over the top business job at the Kamloops-based theatre company. Isenor takes over from Matt Eger, who resigned as executive director following a two-year stint from 2024 to 2026. 

“WCT holds a special place in my heart,” Isenor states in a news release. “Having grown up in Kamloops, this is where I experienced my first professional theatre production and where my love of theatre began. I know just how special WCT is to this community and to the Canadian theatre landscape. To have the opportunity to now help lead an organization that played such an important role in my own journey is incredibly meaningful.” 

Isenor worked for WCT from 2021 to 2024 as the theatre company’s marketing and communications director. WCT notes Isenor also worked on marketing and communications for theatre companies in the Lower Mainland, including The Cultch in Vancouver and Richmond’s Gateway Theatre. Recently, Isenor spent two years as director of communications for the Kamloops Thompson School District.
