McDonald enters Kamloops council race with focus on community support, collaboration

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Lyndsay McDonald is making her case for a seat on Kamloops city council. Bringing experience in mental health care, community support and rebuilding her own life have shaped her campaign, highlighting inclusion and collaboration.

McDonald told the CFJC Today team (Sept. 2) she moved to Kamloops from Ontario in 2023 after working as a personal support worker and running a business specializing in behavioral redirection for people with dementia. She shared starting over in a new city helped her reclaim her independence and look at how she wanted to contribute to the community.

“I fell in love with the city here… I fell in love with myself again and I really started seeing what it is I want to do and what I think I can contribute to the community,” she explains, speaking about her endeavors like Root and Rise in Kamloops. “I built the frameworks, I worked on the infrastructures and things I think could be positive.”
