Kamloops identifies polling locations ahead of civic election

KAMLOOPS — The nomination period is officially open ahead of this October’s civic election, with hopeful candidates given until next Friday (Sept. 11) to submit their intent to seek office.

Voters in Kamloops will be tasked with electing one mayor, eight councillors and five school district trustees on October 17. Work around polling locations has already been finalized, with advanced voting at McArthur Island and Heritage House and only one change for 16 general voting day locations.

“(Locations are the same) except for one new location listed which is Ralph Bell Elementary School,” said Kamloops’ Chief Election Officer Alisha Beday. “The election team was actually provided earlier this year with some feedback from the accessibility engagement school regarding Valleyview Secondary School and some of the challenges around accessibility we were having with that location. Identified was Ralph Bell Elementary, so we will be using that location from the Valleyview neighbourhood.”
