Due to the damage sustained by the fire, Harlock says it’s undetermined if the RV is a newer or older model. He adds that investigators will be on scene Tuesday to determine the cause.

“Anytime there’s no one involved; a vehicle that is burning in the middle of a field like that, they always look into… what the cause was, if it was an accident or possibly a stolen vehicle,” Harlock says. 

Anyone with further information or dashcam video related to the RV fire is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP or KFR. 

The RV fire is a late blemish on what was a tamer summer for the Party Pit. Harlock notes KFR has historically responded to bonfires and parties in the area, but he believes a heightened state of awareness led to fewer issues. 

“People were quite nervous about the way things were with the amount of smoke,” Harlock says. “People were behaving themselves for the most part. With the awareness, people are knowing where the city limits are. 

“There’s a lot of people that still drive that area on a daily basis. It gets reported very quickly when things do happen up there.”
