MERRITT, B.C. — A winter storm warning is in effect for part of the Coquihalla Highway.

Environment Canada says a frontal system will cross the southern B.C. Interior this evening. A moist southwest flow behind the system will produce heavy snow over the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt.

20 to 30 centimetres of snow accumulation is expected south of the summit. The snow level will be near 1,100 metres this evening, and lower to 800 metres overnight, Environment Canada says.

Visibility may be reduced at times during heavy snow.
