More evacuation orders and alerts lift near Clinton-area wildfire
CLINTON, B.C. — With activity along the southern flank of the Pear Lake wildfire dying down, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) has lifted some evacuation orders and alerts for nearby properties.
The SLRD has lifted an evacuation alert for more than 80 properties in the Pavilion Lake area.
“Based on consultation with the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), the SLRD has assessed that the potential danger to life and health due to the Pear Lake wildfire has subsided to the degree that parts of the Evacuation Alert, issued pursuant to Section 95 (1) of the BC Emergency and Disaster Management Act, by the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District on August 23, 2026 at 1600 hours, are no longer required,” said the SLRD.
The evacuation order has also been downgraded for several properties, allowing some residents to return home, but the SLRD is still urging caution, as an evacuation alert is still in place.
