This comes as the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) battles the 165,928.5-hectare Pear Lake wildfire with help from recent weather conditions.

“The downturn in weather continues, with temperatures around 17 degrees and relative humidity of 37 percent. These cooler temperatures will continue to moderate fire behaviour. Thunderstorms may pass through the area this afternoon (Aug. 29),” said the BCWS.

“Only minimal precipitation is forecast, and rainfall will be variable across the fire. Some areas may receive a few millimetres, others little to none, with the potential for localized downpours. Where rain does not fall, periods of more active fire behaviour, including crown fire, are still possible.”
