‘We just never had any rain,’ lack of water plaguing Blackwell Dairy Farm in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — A hot and dry summer is continuing to wreak havoc on farmers and ranchers in the Southern Interior. That’s also the case at Blackwell Dairy Farm in Barnhartvale.
A number of fields at the Kamloops farm would usually be lush and green with alfalfa and other crops at this time of year, but lingering drought means its largely brown and crunchy.
“We just never had any rain,” owner Ted Blackwell told CFJC Today. “We had a little sprinkle here and there enough to make our deck wet.”
