New wildfire sparks south of Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — A new lightning-caused wildfire has been spotted south of Kamloops on Saturday (Aug 22).

The BC Wildfire Service had the fire posted on their online map shortly before 12:30 p.m., and it is believed to be about six hectares in size.

The out of control blaze is in the Jacko Lake area, about seven kilometres south of Kamloops.

The BCWS has firefighters and aircraft attacking the flames.

Evacuation alerts or alerts have yet to be implemented as a result of this fire
