Felker wildfire near Williams Lake being held; CRD lifts alerts and orders

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says a large fire burning south of Williams Lake is now being held, meaning it is not expected to grow beyond its established control lines.

The Felker fire, sparked by lightning and discovered on July 23, eventually grew to more than 4,200 ha.

Before changing its status from ‘out of control’ to ‘being held’ Monday morning (Aug. 3), BCWS said its crews had observed minimal growth on the fire for several days.

As a result of the change in status, the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) has lifted all evacuation alerts and orders related to the Felker fire, designating it ‘all clear’.
