KAMLOOPS — The B.C. Wildlife Park is celebrating a major milestone this long weekend.

On Monday, the park marks its 60-year anniversary with a day full of family-friendly activities, while also celebrating B.C. Bear Day.

“It’s going to be a huge celebration… There’s so much that goes into this park and we are so excited to be able to be sharing the 60-year anniversary with everyone. Like it takes the public for us to run, so we want it to be for everyone. We invite people to come out to join us,” said Karlota Toering, a marketing events co-op student at the park.

The B.C. Wildlife Park is inviting the community to help celebrate. Monday’s festivities run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This year’s anniversary is also being combined with B.C. Bear Day, featuring special bear feed talks throughout the day. Afterward, visitors can expect the revealing of the park’s newest mascot, before cooling off at the grand opening of a new spray park.

“It’s supposed to be hot and we are excited to share. After our 60th cake cutting, we are excited to invite everyone to our brand new splash park that’s going to be open. Everyone’s been waiting the whole summer and they’re like, ‘When is it going to be open?’ It is open Monday, August 3. There’s so many things we want to be grateful for and show the public,” added Toering.

Tickets and schedules can be bought in-advance online, through the park’s website.
