Fighting fire with fire: planned ignitions helping contain massive Clinton-area blaze
CHASM, B.C. — (UPDATE 3:00 p.m.): The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is using planned ignitions around the massive Pear Lake wildfire to help contain the flames, but only when conditions allow.
An inversion Thursday (July 30) forced crews to cancel plans to conduct ignition work north of Clinton because of unfavourable conditions, and the situation will be assessed on Friday.
This work was meant to follow ignition work that took place on Wednesday (July 29) afternoon.
