‘It grew incredibly quickly’; Logan Lake residents describe fast-spreading Guichon Creek fire
LOGAN LAKE, B.C. — (UPDATE 5:15 p.m.): Efforts to contain the out-of-control Guichon Creek fire that sparked just outside of Logan Lake Wednesday (July 29) afternoon have continued into a second day, and the mayor of the community says the situation has improved.
The fire is still an estimated 88 hectares in size, but given how close it’s burning to Logan Lake – there is some panic in the community.
“It popped up around 2:00 p.m. [Wednesday] and we watched it grow very, very quickly and it was very visible to the community,” Logan Lake mayor Robin Smith told CFJC Today Thursday (July 30).
