Canucks, city explore building dedicated practice rink in Vancouver
VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks took the first step toward a dedicated practice facility Thursday, signing a memorandum of understanding with the City of Vancouver.
The proposed development would be built next to the city-owned Britannia Rink in the city’s east end.
The Canucks, who play at the team-owned Rogers Arena, do not have a dedicated practice facility, a rarity in the NHL. The proposed development would provide the NHL club with a permanent training home.
The team says the proposal would also include new community amenities and expanded youth programming.
