TNRD planning evacuation of 70 Mile House
70 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — Two wildfires threatening the village of Clinton have merged, forming a massive 668 square kilometre blaze, leading the Thomson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) to plan an evacuation of 70 Mile house and the surrounding area.
The TNRD is giving residents some time to prepare, however, as the regional district said the Evacuation Order will not come into effect until 10 a.m. Monday (July 27).
Officials with the regional district said this planned evacuation is due to the projected growth of the Pear Lake wildfire towards the area.
“Residents should use the remainder of today to prepare to leave their properties and be ready to depart when the Order comes into effect tomorrow,” said the TNRD.
