Kamloops Fire Rescue knocks down suspicious fire along Trans-Canada Highway

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue knocked down a small interface fire on the east end of the city along the Trans-Canada Highway, which the RCMP has deemed to be suspicious.

Kamloops RCMP said the fire broke out in an encampment along the bank of the South Thompson River, across the highway from Orchards Walk.

They also believe the fire was set deliberately.

“There is what I would call a suspicious fire near one the transient camps. We spoke to at least two individuals who were in the area at that time and we are continuing the investigation,” said a Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.
