Efforts underway to protect Village of Clinton structures from Pear Lake fire
CLINTON, B.C. — (UPDATE 2:00 p.m.): Firefighters with the Clinton Fire Department, the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) and other fire departments are working to protect homes and businesses from the raging Pear Lake wildfire.
“As of this morning, Clinton has been preserved from major loss. The fire still poses a threat to the community and will continue to take a concerted effort to fight over the coming days,” said the Village of Clinton in a statement.
“The fire split and travelled up Hart Ridge to the South and towards Lime Lookout to the Northeast.”
The BC Wildfire Service said the fire crossed over Kelly Lakes Road and was pushed north up the hillside and crossed Highway 97, south of Clinton.
