Drugs and weapons seized, multiple arrests made during two-day police operation in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — A loaded 12-gauge shotgun and brass knuckles were part of a laundry list of weapons seized during a two-day targeted blitz by Kamloops RCMP.

From July 3 to 4, Kamloops RCMP say the detachment’s Proactive Enforcement Team focused on drug trafficking, individuals with outstanding warrants, property crime and violent offenders.

During the two-day stretch, RCMP say 16 arrests were made and 16 dangerous or prohibited weapons were seized, including two guns and a replica firearm. Additionally, police seized more than one kilogram of drugs.

Some of the weapons include batons, bear spray, knives and an axe.

“This operation demonstrates the value of intelligence-led policing and proactive enforcement in disrupting criminal activity an improving public safety,” Kamloops RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley states in a news release issued Wednesday (July 22).

The Kamloops detachment notes it received funding through B.C.’s Special Investigations and Targeted Enforcement Program to train 10 officers from its Crime Reduction Unit.
