Clinton-area wildfire prompts evacuation of provincial park

CLINTON, B.C. — The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) is evacuating a provincial park in the Clinton area due to the threat presented by a nearby wildfire.
Late Monday afternoon (July 20), the TNRD issued an evacuation order for day users and campers at Downing Provincial Park, about 18 kilometres southwest of Clinton.
The Pear Lake wildfire is burning near the park, on the boarder between the TNRD and the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District.
People using the park are ordered to leave immediately.
