Broncos begin rebuilding year with 72-1 blowout loss to Rams

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Broncos alerted fans of growing pains in the first year of a rebuild, and they materialized in the junior football club’s season opener. 


The Broncos were blown out by the Langley Rams 72-1 at Hillside Stadium Saturday (July 18). 

While not throwing for any interceptions, Broncos quarterback and former South Kamloops Titan Cole Rigler threw for 103 yards and completed 13 of 24 passes. On the ground, the Broncos as a team ran for 51 yards. 

On the other end of the ball, the Broncos defence allowed 586 all-purpose yards (373 passing and 213 rushing) while surrendering four passing touchdowns and six rushing touchdowns.

The Broncos are 0-1 to start the 2026 B.C. Football Conference season. 

Next up for Kamloops is a road trip up to Prince George to take on the Kodiaks on Saturday, Aug. 1. The Broncos return home Saturday, Aug. 8 to welcome the Westshore Rebels to Hillside Stadium for a 6:00 p.m. start.
