One man arrested Monday as RCMP swarm busy downtown Kamloops intersection

KAMLOOPS — Police in Kamloops say a man was arrested after a high-risk traffic stop that shut down a busy downtown intersection over the noon hour on Monday (June 22).

RCMP say they were called to check the well-being of a person who was believed to be driving a pickup truck, which was spotted downtown. A number of RCMP vehicles swarmed the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Victoria Street around 12:45 p.m., and traffic was slowing soon after.

“A high-risk vehicle stop was initiated near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Victoria Street resulting in one man being arrested,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier said.

“The man will be held in custody pending a court appearance.”
