Whitecaps-Fire game postponed in Chicago due to poor air quality from wildfires
CHICAGO — The Vancouver Whitecaps’ Major League Soccer road game against the Fire scheduled for Thursday night has been postponed due to poor air quality in Chicago caused by wildfires in northern Ontario.
The league and the two teams said in a joint statement that the decision was made to prioritize the health of players, staff and fans.
The game will instead take place on Oct. 6, with tickets for the original date remaining valid.
The Whitecaps were looking to return to MLS action after a long layoff due to the World Cup.
