Ariana Grande and former backup dancer Ricky Alvarez are “taking things very slowly” as they rekindle their romance, a source exclusively told PEOPLE. The pair, who dated from 2015 to 2016, reunited over the Fourth of July weekend in Florida with Grande’s family. “Ricky is dependable, trustworthy and very supportive. Ariana feels she can be herself around him,” the source says. “They’re not jumping into anything serious right away, but Ari is happy to have him back in her life.” Grande, currently on her 41-date Eternal Sunshine tour, has updated her “Thank U, Next” lyrics to reflect the reunion. On Alvarez’s birthday, July 13, she sang, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / We always find our way back.” Her eighth album, Petal, releases later this month.
