Trio of Blazers to attend Hockey Canada Under-17 camp in Oakville

KAMLOOPS Three Kamloops Blazers players will be a part of Hockey Canada’s National Under-17 Development Camp that gets underway this weekend.

Defenseman Mateo Ferreira and forwards Teagen Bouchard and Brady Ondrus are among 80 Canadian Hockey players who will be at camp July 17 to 21 at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario. Players will be split into four teams at camp, which includes two days of practice and six games.

Ferreira, Bouchard and Ondrus were all drafted by the Blazers in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft. While they’ve all signed with the Blazers, Bouchard appeared in three regular season games last October.

Ferreira, 15, played last season with the Winnipeg Bruins U18 AAA team where he posted 53 points (13 goals and 40 assists) in 45 games. Bouchard and Ondrus, both 16, played for the Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 Prep team. Bouchard had 35 points (17 goals and 18 assists) in 25 games while Ondrus had 36 points (nine goals and 27 assists) in 30 games.

Bouchard also recorded a goal and assist in one game for the Alberta Junior Hockey league’s Grande Prairie Storm this past March.

Following this weekend’s camp, Hockey Canada the players will be evaluated through the beginning of the 2026-27 season. They’ll be competing for spots on the Canada Red and Canada White rosters ahead of the 2026 U17 World Challenge, which is scheduled for Nov. 1 to 7 in Oakville.
