Kamloops RCMP arrest man wanted for violent offences

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) arrested a man with a pair of outstanding warrants from two different jurisdictions.

Police officials said the successful targeted operation led to the arrest of Zachary Ortloff on June 24.

According to police, at about 11:30 a.m. an officer from the detachment’s CRU saw and identified the man as having warrants from Cranbrook and Chilliwack.

Ortloff’s warrants were related to serious violent crimes, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

“Kamloops RCMP CRU officers continue to prioritize the identification and arrest of individuals who pose a significant risk to community safety,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley, Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP detachment.

Ortloff was held in custody pending further proceedings as determined by the originating jurisdictions.
