Disney’s live-action Moana opened to just $43 million domestically, one of the studio’s lowest remake debuts on record. Despite a $250 million production budget, the film earned only $52 million internationally, totaling $95 million globally — far short of Disney’s $140 million projection. The Thomas Kail-directed film scored a 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, though audiences rated it an “A-” CinemaScore. Minions and Monsters claimed second place with $20.5 million, while Toy Story 5 landed third with $18.5 million in its fourth weekend. The Pixar sequel has now amassed $403.8 million domestically and $879.1 million worldwide, approaching the $1 billion mark. Evil Dead Burn debuted fourth with $13.7 million, and Young Washington rounded out the top five with $6.4 million.
