KAMLOOPS — Powerlifters, strongmen and arm wresters will be in the Tournament Capital this weekend as the Twin Rivers Strengthfest makes its return to Kamloops.

Organizers say this year’s event, at the Sandman Centre this Saturday and Sunday (July 11 and 12), will be the biggest in the competition’s history featuring over 250 athletes from across the province.

They’ll be competing across multiple weight classes, divisions and disciplines

“We’re incredibly excited about what this year’s event has become,” said Jeremy Phelps, director of the Twin Rivers Strength Sports Association. “Every year, we’ve seen tremendous growth and 2026 will be our biggest Strengthfest yet.”

“Having more that 250 athletes and adding arm wrestling to the weekend demonstrates how much interest there is in strength sports. It’s amazing to see so many new athletes stepping onto the competition floor alongside some of the best competitors in Western Canada.”

Phelps says the event will feature everyone from first-time competitors to elite-level athletes, and they’ll be battling for personal bests, records, championship titles and qualification opportunities while showing off feats of strength, determination and athleticism.

Organizers said the Arctic Spa U90 kg Men’s ProAm Strongman Championship will also make a comeback after it’s inaugural 2025 competition, brings together some of Canada’s top under 90-kilogram strongman athletes.

The weekend will conclude with the crowning of the year’s Kamloops Strongest Man and Kamloops Strongest Woman.

“Admission is by optional donation, with proceeds supporting local nonprofit organizations,” Phelps added. “Visitors can also enjoy sponsor and vendor booths, demonstrations and prize giveaways throughout the weekend while watching some of the strongest athletes in Western Canada compete.”

“Whether you’re a longtime strength sports enthusiast or attending your very first competition, Twin Rivers Strengthfest 2026 promises to be an unforgettable weekend of community, competition and incredible displays of strength.”
