Katie Couric Reveals Stroke Scare And Temporary Amnesia Diagnosis

Veteran journalist Katie Couric revealed that she experienced Transient Global Amnesia in June, which was initially mistaken for a stroke. Couric detailed the episode in a Substack post titled “A Day I’ll Never Remember.” She recalls attending Aspen’s Ideas Festival before losing all memory of the event. Her husband, John Molner, described her repeatedly asking the same questions and failing to correctly identify the year or current president, prompting doctors to initiate stroke protocol. A clean MRI later ruled out a stroke, confirming the temporary amnesia diagnosis. Molner left a bedside note assuring her she would be “100% fine tomorrow.” Couric says the cause remains unclear but noted, “Those hours will be forever lost.”
