Semi-truck fire causing delays along Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt

MERRITT, B.C. — A burning semi-truck has led to a closure of the southbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt Friday (July 3) afternoon.

According to DriveBC, the highway is closed for 6.8 kilometres between the Larson Hill and the Coldwater Road exists. Drivers can detour via Highway 1 or Highway 3 as emergency crews respond to the scene.

It’s not clear what caused the vehicle to catch fire.
