UPDATE: Lower Nicola Eco-Depot reopen after brief grassfire-related closure

LOWER NICOLA, B.C. — (UPDATE 11:45 a.m.): The Lower Nicola Eco-Depot near the City of Merritt has reopened after a brief closure caused by a wildfire.

The Eco-Depot was temporarily evacuated as firefighters responded to a grassfire that was burning adjacent to Woodward Road, which is the access road to the site.

“At this time, fire crews remain on scene to monitor for flare ups,” a statement from the TNRD said.

In an earlier statement, the TNRD said the Eco-Depot was not impacted by the fire, but they noted it was evacuated as a precaution.
