TNRD to prep public on purging problematic plants

KAMLOOPS — The Thompson-Nicola Invasive Plant Management Committee (TNIPMC) is gearing up for their annual invasive plant field day in Westwold next Thursday (July 9).

Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) officials said invasive plant specialists will be on site to share information on invasives in the Monte Lake and Westwold areas with private landowners First Nations, land managers, and members of the public.

The session will focus on teaching attendees how to identify and manage plants are are invasive to the region, with participants invited to brink ‘mystery’ plant samples for identification.

“This workshop is intended to help residents and land practitioners learn how to identify and manage key invasive plants that are established, or threatening to establish, in the Monte Lake and Westwold areas,” said Coleen Hougen, TNRD Integrated Pest Management Supervisor.
