Kamloops Fire Rescue responds to airport area after ‘bus residence’ catches fire
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) crews were called to a commercial property near Kamloops Airport during the noon hour Monday (June 22) after reports of a structure fire involving a de-commissioned school bus.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., multiple fire crews responded to the scene near the city’s airport just off Farm Road after reports of a commercial structure fire. When firefighters arrived, they found a school bus engulfed in flames with crews saying the bus had reportedly been converted into a living space.
Officials say the large response was required from KFR due the location not having any fire hydrants in the area, with additional water resources being brought in to battle the blaze.
The fire was contained by crews with no word being released on any injuries.
