Netflix Turns Childhood Game ‘Simon Says’ Into Competition Show

Netflix announced Thursday that it’s producing a reality competition series called Simon Says, based on the classic playground game. Contestants will face “a gauntlet of cunning challenges, strategic mind games, and unexpected pivots as they compete for a life-changing prize,” according to the streamer. While the traditional rule applies—”if Simon says it, you’d better listen”—Netflix warns that “obedience may buy another day, but every choice comes with consequences.” Showrunner Emer Harkin, known for The Challenge and Buddy Games, will lead the series. Netflix has not announced a release date or revealed who will play Simon.
