Tom Holland named Adolescence star Owen Cooper as his preferred successor for the Spider-Man role in a new Esquire interview. Holland, preparing for his fourth Spider-Man film, expressed interest in mentoring the next web-slinger similar to how Robert Downey Jr. guided him through his initial Marvel movies. “In the way that Robert Downey was such a mentor for me in my first three movies, I would love to be that person for whoever is next,” he explained, calling Cooper “super-talented and the talk of the town right now.” Cooper also previously declared his Spider-Man ambitions to i-D magazine in March 2025, saying “I want to play Spider-Man.” The 14-year-old actor has gained prominence starring in Adolescence, becoming the youngest-ever male Emmy winner and sweeping major awards during the series’ run.
