Alicia Keys To Perform “Empire State Of Mind” At Knicks Championship Parade Today

Alicia Keys will perform “Empire State of Mind” at Thursday’s New York Knicks championship parade, celebrating the team’s first title in 53 years. Knicks owner James Dolan announced the Grammy winner will close the parade with the Jay-Z collaboration during a 1 p.m. ceremony at City Hall following the Canyon of Heroes procession. Keys confirmed her participation after a FaceTime call with Knicks forward OG Anunoby, saying “Like how could I not? This is my city and the city’s on fire.” The Knicks secured their championship Saturday with a 94-90 Game 5 victory over San Antonio. Keys missed the game while hosting her documentary premiere at Tribeca Film Festival but celebrated with an impromptu performance joined by Nas. The 2009 hit reached number one on Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks.
