Kamloops Fire Rescue responding to early morning trailer fire on the Tk’emlups reserve

Jun 17, 2026 | 6:16 AM

UPDATE (9:30 a.m.): A fire that started in an RV spread to a nearby house on the same property on the Tk’emlups reserve.

Details are slim, but KFR Platoon Chief Shawn Davidson says the fire extended into the attic and a few bedrooms before crews put out the flames. Davidson says the RV is a total loss, and it’s unknown whether the house is habitable. The fire was contained to the property.

It’s also unknown whether anyone was in the house or the RV at the time of the fire, but Davidson says no injuries were reported, and no one needed to be rescued.

The suspected cause is under investigation. Davidson says KFR investigators will be at the property on Cree Road throughout the day.

KFR reminds residents to ensure they have working smoke detectors in their homes.

UPDATE (6:30 a.m.): KFR crews say over the scanner they have knocked down the fire in the interior of the structure. Crews await the arrival of FortisBC and BC Hydro.
