Fox Plans To Keep Roku Channel And Tubi Separate After $22 Billion Acquisition

Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch announced plans to operate Tubi and Roku as separate services following Fox’s $22 billion Roku acquisition. The combined platforms would control the top two free, ad-supported streaming services, with Roku Channel capturing 3% of U.S. TV viewing and Fox-owned Tubi at 2.2% in March. “Our expectation is fully that you keep the services separate. They serve consumers and our viewers in different ways,” Murdoch stated during Monday’s investor call. He noted the services have complementary audiences with only one-third overlap, effectively tripling their combined reach. Tubi focuses on video-on-demand content while Roku primarily offers FAST channels.
