TNRD Area B mosquito control program expansion vote passes
KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) said the Electoral Area B Mosquito Control Service Referendum passed in preliminary counting.
According to the TNRD, the referendum received 58 “yes” votes and 24 “no” votes after polls closed on Saturday (June 13).
The vote was meant to let residents decide of they wanted the Regional District’s mosquito control service to expand into Area B, primarily impacting the communities of Avola and Blue River.
The referendum results still need to pass one more step of gaining official assent from the Chief Election Officer, which is expected to be announced in the coming days.
